You choose the operating system during setup and with every reinstallation. We rebuild the images regularly from the vendors' official sources and always install the latest tested state with all updates.
The catalogue

What every image contains
- the vendor's lean cloud image with an SSH server
- fixed IPv4 and IPv6 address and name servers, configured at first boot
- the QEMU guest agent, which lets the customer area detect the state of the server
- SSH login only with a key; the password is for the console
FreeBSD specifics
On FreeBSD the file system does not grow automatically after a storage upgrade. Afterwards, run service growfs onestart once as root. More under Growing partition and file system.
