To log in you need the private key belonging to one of the SSH keys chosen during setup, the user and the IP address. You will find the ready-made command in the Overview tab in the Access card under SSH command.
Linux, macOS and Windows 10/11 (OpenSSH)
ssh root@203.0.113.10
# oder über IPv6
ssh root@2001:db8::10
When connecting for the first time, SSH asks whether you trust the server and shows its fingerprint. Confirm with yes. If your key is not in the default location, specify it with -i, for example ssh -i ~/.ssh/my_key root@203.0.113.10.
The SSH command in the customer area uses the IPv6 address. If your internet connection has no IPv6, use the IPv4 address from the IP addresses card.
With your own user
If you chose your own user, log in with it - logging in as root via SSH is blocked. You get administrator rights with sudo, no password is requested:
ssh max@203.0.113.10
sudo -i
Windows with PuTTY
Enter the IP address under Session (port 22). Under Connection > SSH > Auth > Credentials, select your .ppk file saved with PuTTYgen at Private key file for authentication. Connect with Open and enter root or your own user as login.
The web console
The console shows your server's screen directly in the browser - even if SSH is not reachable, for example after an overly strict firewall rule. Open it with Open console at the top of the server page (separate window) or in the Console tab with Connect. Log in with user and password. With Paste the console types text from your clipboard character by character, Send Ctrl+Alt+Del sends this key combination to the server.
"Permission denied (publickey)" - what now?
-i. With your own user, root is blocked via SSH.
