Creating and restoring manual backups in the hosting control panel
To ensure you have maximum flexibility and control over your data, we enable you to create and restore manual backups (in addition to our automated backups) directly via your Hosting Control Panel at any time. This gives you the freedom to organise backups according to your specific needs and schedules.
For example, it makes sense to create a backup before an update so that you can restore it quickly and flexibly.
Storage options for backups:
You can store your manual backups in various ways to suit your requirements and security needs:
- Locally on the FTP server: Directly on your hosting account, with the backup counting towards your allocated storage space.
- Externally via an FTP/FTPS server: For an external backup separate from your main hosting account.
- Externally via WebDAV: Another option for storing your backups externally.
- Externally via Dropbox: Use your Dropbox account to store backups there.
- Externally via RClone script: Ideal for storing backups on various cloud storage services such as SFTP or AWS S3.
Backup options:
Our system offers you the flexibility to specify exactly what should be backed up:
- Full data backup: Back up your entire range of data, from files and databases to email accounts.
- Selective backups: Choose whether to back up only databases, files or email accounts.
Creating backups:
- One-off, manual: Start a backup manually at any time.
- Scheduled via tasks: Automate the backup process by setting up regular backups, e.g. once a week or daily.
Security and management:
- Backup encryption: Each backup repository is encrypted with a password. Keep this password safe to retain access to your backed-up data.
- Snapshot management: Configure the maximum number of snapshots to prevent your repository from becoming excessively large. Older snapshots will be deleted in accordance with your settings. Leaving the input field blank means that no snapshots will be deleted automatically.
Important note:
Please note that when performing a local backup on your own hosting account, the backup will count towards your allocated storage quota. This may be relevant when managing your available storage space.
