All cloud servers sit on the same fast NVMe storage. The disk speed defines how much of it your server may use - measured as data rate (MB/s) and as the number of accesses per second (IOPS), separately for reading and writing.
The three tiers
| Tier | Read | Write | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 150 MB/s · 3,000 IOPS | 100 MB/s · 1,500 IOPS | websites, small applications and development |
| Standard | 300 MB/s · 6,000 IOPS | 200 MB/s · 3,000 IOPS | databases and shops with regular load |
| Performance | 500 MB/s · 12,000 IOPS | 300 MB/s · 6,000 IOPS | many simultaneous accesses and large databases |
Burst: for short peaks your server may briefly use up to twice these values in all tiers, for up to 60 seconds each - for example when booting, during updates or when importing a database.
How the surcharge is calculated
Higher tiers cost a percentage surcharge on the price per GB of storage. The surcharge therefore depends on the size of your disk: each card in the configurator shows the monthly amount for the selected storage and the amount per GB. In the cart, the contract and on the invoice, the disk speed appears as a separate item.
Changing the tier later
You change the tier in the Upgrade tab of your server:
- Higher tier: you receive a pro-rata invoice up to the next billing date. After payment the new tier applies immediately, without a restart.
- Lower tier: the change is scheduled for the next billing date. Until then you keep the faster tier you have paid for; there is no credit for the period already paid. You can withdraw the scheduled change until that date.
- More storage: every additional GB costs the price of your tier.
