End of Plesk support: Important information for our customers

Plesk Control Panel web interface

From 1 January 2025, we will no longer offer new server systems with Plesk, and we will also cease providing Plesk licences with immediate effect. This was not an easy decision to make, but after careful consideration, we have decided to adopt KeyHelp as our preferred control panel going forward. In this blog post, we explain the reasons behind this decision and what it means for our customers.

Background to our decision

The decision to discontinue Plesk is based on several factors that have increasingly concerned us over the past few months. We recently received an email from our distributor which made it clear that the situation surrounding Plesk has changed significantly since its acquisition by another group. Essentially, these changes relate to the licensing model, relationships with resellers and providers, and the cost structure.

Changes to the licensing model and rising costs

Since the takeover by the new group, Plesk has changed its licensing model, thereby increasingly restricting flexibility for resellers and providers. At the same time, licence costs have risen repeatedly without us being able to identify sufficient justification or corresponding added value for our customers - and feedback from our customers reflects this as well. The increased costs make it difficult to maintain an attractive price-performance ratio that meets both our own standards and our customers’ expectations.

Lack of further development and community focus

Another key factor that led to our decision is the lack of further development in areas we consider crucial for a modern hosting solution. Whilst the software continues to evolve, we believe it lacks important features that have been repeatedly requested by the community. Key features that could help optimise user-friendliness and efficiency continue to be overlooked.

Instead, Plesk’s developers often make changes without taking users’ needs into account. The community’s wishes seem to play only a secondary role, which contradicts our philosophy of customer-centred development. We aim to offer our customers a solution that continuously adapts to their needs and implements innovations that genuinely deliver added value.

Why KeyHelp is the better choice

In future, we will increasingly rely on KeyHelp as our control panel. Over the past few years, KeyHelp has established itself as a reliable, cost-effective and user-friendly alternative to Plesk. It is particularly important to us that KeyHelp is actively community-oriented, taking on board feedback and incorporating it into the software’s further development. This results in a product that is tailored to users’ needs and is constantly improving.

With KeyHelp, we can offer our customers a flexible and transparent solution which, in our view, is every bit as good as Plesk. This is not only advantageous from a financial perspective, but also helps our customers retain greater control over their hosting environment. KeyHelp’s intuitive user interface and robust security features make it a modern alternative that meets the requirements of hosting projects of all sizes.

Our switch to KeyHelp

Existing Plesk users are not affected

We would, of course, like to make it clear at this point that existing Plesk licences are not affected; we will not be cancelling any licences that are currently active. You are, of course, still free to use Plesk for your server systems if you wish. Customers who have purchased their own Plesk licence or wish to do so in future can still use Plesk without restriction on our systems. Our decision relates exclusively to the provision of new systems and licences by us.

For existing customers, licence costs will be adjusted accordingly; a separate notification will be sent directly to the customers concerned, setting out a detailed breakdown of the costs resulting from the licence adjustment.

Conclusion: A decision for the future

We understand that this change may raise questions or concerns for some of our customers. However, our aim is to provide you with a reliable, secure and cost-effective hosting solution in the long term. The decision to discontinue Plesk and switch to KeyHelp instead is one we have taken for the benefit of our customers and their projects.

Should you have any questions regarding this change or wish to discuss your specific requirements, we are of course happy to assist you. We are confident that, with KeyHelp as the control panel, the future offers a successful and secure foundation for all your hosting projects.
