WordPress is the most widely used content management system (CMS) on the internet. It is easy to use, flexible and offers numerous options for expansion. Unfortunately, however, the performance of WordPress websites can suffer under certain circumstances. Delays can occur, particularly during periods of high traffic or when there are many concurrent requests.
CloudLinux has now developed a solution to this problem: AccelerateWP. It is a specialised solution for optimising WordPress performance, based on the CloudLinux Operating System (OS). CloudLinux is an operating system developed specifically for hosting providers; it is based on Linux and offers particularly high levels of security and stability.
Until now, AccelerateWP was not available for Plesk, but there is now good news for everyone: AccelerateWP is now also available on Plesk. Plesk is a popular platform for managing websites and servers and is ideal for hosting providers and developers. With AccelerateWP now available on Plesk, users can easily optimise the performance of their WordPress websites. Accordingly, we are now able to offer you the added value of this software.
To improve the performance of WordPress websites, AccelerateWP utilises the technologies of the CloudLinux operating system. For example, PHP requests are automatically distributed more effectively, which reduces load and increases availability. Resource management is also optimised by ensuring that each customer receives only the resources they actually need.
AccelerateWP also offers a number of special features tailored to WordPress. For example, the execution of PHP scripts can be accelerated by keeping them in memory rather than reloading them each time. Database queries are also optimised to enable faster loading times.
What features are available to our hosting customers?
AccelerateWP is included in all our hosting plans and covers all AccelerateWP features. These include a full suite of optimisation tools, object caching and SmartAdvice.
An overview of AccelerateWP’s features:
- Full Page Caching: Speeds up access to a website’s content and reduces page load times.
- Cache Preloading: Stores cached pages by simulating a ‘mock visit’, ensuring the website loads quickly when real visitors access the page.
- Server Caching: A caching service that speeds up access to information that has already been retrieved.
- Browser caching: Once the data has been accessed and stored in the browser, visitors to your website can browse at a faster speed.
- CDN integration: Increase website performance by connecting to a global ‘origin’ CDN server and caching content close to where the end user is accessing it.
- Image optimisation (coming soon): Reduces the size of image files without compromising quality, so that the page loads faster.
- Critical CSS generation (coming soon): This is a technique that extracts the CSS above the fold to display the page as quickly as possible. It’s like using the absolute minimum amount of CSS to display the content that a visitor sees. In short - it’s important for the perceived performance of the website.
Overall, the availability of AccelerateWP gives us, as a hosting provider, and developers greater flexibility in optimising the performance of their WordPress websites. The software is based on the stable and secure CloudLinux OS and offers specialised features tailored specifically to the requirements of WordPress. The ability to easily monitor and optimise performance ensures that the website is always fast and available.
Benefit from AccelerateWP at SpeedIT now!
The AccelerateWP feature is now automatically available to all customers with installed WordPress instances and is enabled by default; you do not need to make any changes here. If you wish to disable this feature, you can do so directly in Plesk (Web Server Control Panel) via the ‘AccelerateWP’ option.
The exception is Webserver #1, which does not run a CloudLinux instance; if you wish to migrate to a new server, please feel free to contact us so that we can carry out the migration.
