The Statistics tab shows all domains of a site together, for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. New values arrive automatically every 5 minutes, instantly with ↻. All values are measured, not extrapolated.
Key figures
- Requests: all requests to the site in the period.
- Cache hit rate: the share of requests answered from the cache.
- Blocked: rejected requests, broken down by type.
- Avg. response time: average response time with peak value.
Traffic and relief of your server
- Traffic: the amount of data delivered to visitors.
- Delivered from the cache: bytes that your server did not have to deliver, with their share of the traffic.
- Answered from the cache or blocked: requests that never reached your server.
- Requests to your server: what ShieldCache passed on.
Traffic values are available from the start of measurement; for earlier periods you will see “no measured values yet” or “Measured since …”.
Blocks and captcha checks
Blocks by type always lists all types, even with 0: firewall, rate limit, country filter, IP block, file protection, network operator, request too large and access protection. The Captcha checks card shows how often visitors were sent to the check per trigger and how many passed it. Further down you will find responses by status code, response time over time, top countries and top paths.
Little traffic from the cache?
Responses with Set-Cookie or Cache-Control no-cache/private are not cached - for example WordPress without cache rules, which sets cookies on every page. With the cache templates and a cache duration for HTML, the share increases. See Configuring the cache.
Block logs
Under Access > Log and Rate limits > Log you can see how often and from where requests were blocked: time, reference, rule or type, country, IP, method and address, plus the most frequent countries and networks of the last 24 hours. The access log lists blocks by country, IP and network operator, redirects to the captcha check and access attempts rejected by access protection.
The WAF log under Firewall > Log is explained in Firewall (WAF). All logs can be paged with 25, 50 or 100 entries per page.
Data protection and retention periods
- The statistics work without IP addresses.
- In the WAF and block logs, IP addresses are stored in full for 7 days and shortened afterwards: IPv4 to the /24 network, IPv6 to /48, with the label “shortened”. After 30 days, the entries are deleted. To search for a shortened IP, use the shortened form; “Allow this IP” is only available for unshortened addresses.
- Matched content in the WAF log is shortened, and sensitive values such as passwords are masked.
- Reported CSP violations contain no IP addresses and expire 30 days after the last report.
- ShieldCache determines the country and network with a local database - the IP address does not leave the proxy for this.
Request quota
In the project, the Request quota card shows the requests of all sites in the current month, the traffic for the month with the share from the cache and the history of the last 12 months. You receive a message at 80% and 100% of the quota; your sites keep running even beyond it.
