PHP is one of the most important and security-critical scripting languages on all web hosting servers; consequently, people frequently ask which PHP versions are still supported, as many web hosts rightly disable old PHP versions for security reasons.

Which PHP versions does SpeedIT Solutions currently support?
We currently support the following PHP versions on our web servers:
- PHP 7.4 - PHP 8.5 (as at 18 December 2025)
- PHP 5.6 - PHP 7.3 - Available on request from Support (separate server; please enquire BEFORE booking)
Why are outdated PHP versions still supported - isn’t that insecure?
We still support older PHP versions because not every website operator can update overnight; often, migrating older web projects is costly and takes a certain amount of time. We firmly believe that it is important to always use the latest PHP versions, but we know from our own experience the effort that this can sometimes entail.
To ensure the security of web projects and all our customers, we rely on various security features in our shared hosting, which, unfortunately, are not standard in our industry despite offering significant added value. Should we need to disable any PHP versions for security reasons, we will inform you in good time via our newsletter and a blog post.
Which PHP version should I use?
Ideally, you should always use the latest PHP version, provided your web project supports it. This ensures you enjoy the best possible performance and the highest level of security, as the latest PHP versions continue to be actively maintained. You also avoid the risk of being affected by an EOL (End of Life) phase.
